The Spice Bomb Market is Exploding and you can press into it today

Spice bombs (also called birria bombs, spice balls, seasoning bombs, broth bombs, or bouillon bombs) are a fast-growing category in convenience food. Brands like EZ Bombs, Pily's, Seasoning Bombs, and Spice Orbs have built nationwide followings landing on TikTok Shop bestseller lists and shelves at Costco, Walmart, H-E-B, Kroger, and Fiesta Mart  by selling a single, drop-in spice ball that turns 4 lbs of meat into restaurant-quality birria, pozole, tinga, or chile colorado in one step.

The market is wide open and the margins are real: spices are inexpensive, and a single two-pack of birria bombs commonly retails for $15 to $20. The bottleneck for most new entrants isn't recipe  it's production. That's where we come in.

What You Can Manufacture with Our Presses

The B-3 and B-49 were engineered to compress powder-based bath products into dense, consistent, retail-ready spheres, cubes, donuts, and discs. The same compaction principles that make a perfect bath bomb make a perfect spice bomb — and the same molds, in FDA food-grade material, handle dozens of food product categories:

Birria bombs (the original drop-in spice ball for Mexican birria)

Pozole bombs — rojo and verde

Tinga bombs – smoky chipotle blends

Chile colorado bombs

Mole bombs

Brine bombs for marinating poultry, pork, and beef

Bouillon bombs / bouillon balls — beef, chicken, vegetable, mushroom

Broth bombs and soup bombs — pho, ramen, tom yum, miso, French onion

Caldo de res and caldo de pollo bombs

Curry bombs — Thai, Indian, Japanese

Cajun seasoning bombs

Compressed seasoning tablets and spice cubes

Tea bombs and coffee bombs (compressed instant drink portions)

Vegan and plant-based spice bombs — same press, same mold

The B-49 Multi Press — Scale to Thousands Per Day

When demand outgrows a single press, the B-49 Multi Press takes over. It compresses 8 to 49 bombs per pressing cycle depending on mold size — we've recorded customers pressing 100 bath bombs in under 60 seconds, and the same throughput applies to spice bombs.

  • 8 to 49 units per press (1.2″ through 3.3″ mold options)
  • Compact footprint: 21″ wide × 22″ tall × 14″ deep
  • OSHA Approved Two-Hand No Tie-Down safety system built in
  • Fill-Quick, Auto-Alignment, and Quick-Unload features
  • Add lower mold assemblies to run an assembly line and keep the press cycling
  • Pairs with our BMAX2 or BMAX4 Semi-Automatic System with Powered Extraction — customers report a 50% production increase without adding staff
  • 30-day return window; 180-day warranty on the machine
  • Financing available through Paramount Financial and others

Why Bath Bomb Press Technology Is Perfect for Spice Bombs

The original birria bomb was literally inspired by a bath bomb. Donelle Mendoza, founder of Seasoning Bombs (now on H-E-B shelves), got the idea watching her son use a dinosaur-shaped bath bomb. The geometry, the dissolve, the visual appeal — it all transferred. The manufacturing does too. Our presses are purpose-built for compressing ingredients into dense, transport-stable spheres and shapes that:

  • Hold their shape in retail packaging
  • Dissolve cleanly in simmering water, broth, or sauce
  • Look professional
  • Run consistently at production volumes a hand-press or scoop method can never match

And because our molds are already manufactured from FDA food-grade material, you're cleared for food production from the moment your machine arrives — no retrofit, no third-party tooling, no headaches.

The Business Case — Spice Bombs as a New Product Line

We have customers already growing spice bomb businesses on B-3s today. Some are using B-49s. One brand has a dozen B-49s working around the clock as their volume climbs. We're happy to introduce you to financing options that let your machine pay itself off as your sales scale.

  • Low ingredient cost. Bulk spices, chiles, bouillon base, and salt — typically a small fraction of retail price.
  • Strong margins. Retail pricing of $7–$20 per bomb or two-pack is the market norm.
  • Repeat purchase behavior. Customers eat every day. A great-tasting birria bomb sells weekly, not seasonally.
  • Social-media-native product. Birria, pozole, and tinga bombs explode on TikTok and Instagram — a $0 marketing channel for bold visual products.
  • Retail-ready. Existing brands are already in H-E-B, Costco, Kroger, Fiesta Mart, Walmart, and Amazon. The category is proven; shelf space is open.

Why BathBombMachine.com vs. Hand Presses or Overseas Tooling

  • USA-made, USA-supported. Jason has been building bomb presses since 2010. You can pick up the phone and talk to him.

  • FDA food-grade molds. Ready for food production out of the box and machined to precision.
  • Custom molds available. Tell us your shape and dimensions — we’ll design it and CNC machine it.
  • Proven at scale. Hundreds of thousands of bombs per machine, with customers crossing the 1,000,000-bomb mark.
  • Real warranties. Limited Lifetime on the B-3, 180-day on the B-49, 30–60 day satisfaction returns.
  • Financing. Through Paramount Financial and APPROVE, plus our in-house no-interest payment plan.

How to Get Started Making Spice Bombs

  • Talk to us about your product — birria, bouillon, broth, custom — and your target volume.
  • Pick your press. B-3 for startup volumes (up to ~450/hour). B-49 for production volumes (thousands per day).
  • Pick your mold(s). Standard sphere/cube/donut sizes are in stock for B-3 use; custom is available, all B-49 molds are made to order and have a lead time.
  • Dial in your recipe. We’ll share what we’ve learned.
  • Press and ship. Most B-3 orders ship the next business day. B-49 lead time is currently about 4 to 6 weeks – due to the molds being custom made to order.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Feel free to reach out to us directly, and we'd be happy to answer any questions you still have.

Contact us
  • Q.Can a bath bomb press really make food-grade spice bombs?

Yes. Our molds are made from FDA food-grade material, and the compaction process is the same physics whether you’re pressing citric-acid bath powder or a chile-and-bouillon blend. Customers are doing it commercially right now.

  • Q.Do you sell food-grade molds for spice bombs specifically?

The mold material is the same FDA food-grade material we use for all our presses. Standard shapes (spheres, cubes, donuts) work directly for spice bombs. We also build custom molds — including custom logos and branded shapes — on request.

  • Q.What size birria bomb is standard in the market?

Most retail birria bombs are sized to season 3–4 lbs of meat per bomb. That typically corresponds to a 1.7″ to 2.0″ sphere. Often the 1.9″ sphere is the sweet spot but it depends on your recipe. Larger sizes can be used for large family/group settings, or just use multiple of the standard size spice balls.

  • Q. How many spice bombs can I make per hour?

B-3 Bomber can press 450+ per hour. A B-49 Multi Press can press 9 to 49 bombs per cycle, and with multiple lower mold assemblies (optional) cycling through, customers can achieve 100 units in under 60 seconds — thousands per day per B-49 press.

  • Q.Do I need different equipment than for bath bombs?

No. The B-3 and B-49 presses are the same machines. The molds are already FDA food-grade. You’ll want a dedicated set for food production (don’t cross-use with bath product runs) and a food-safe workspace — but the press itself is ready.

  • Q.Can the B-49 make small bouillon-cube–sized bombs?

Yes — our 1.2″ × 49 mold is well-suited for single-serve bouillon bombs, broth cubes, and small-portion seasoning balls. Small cubes molds can be made as well.

  • Q. Is financing available?

Yes — through Paramount Financial, APPROVE and others, plus an in-house no-interest plan that spreads payments over the manufacturing timeline.

  • Q.Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Contact us at info@bathbombmachine.com for international shipping quotes.
